My Guide to AI is published by Midhrami Studios Private Limited, based in India. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act we are the data fiduciary for this site; under the GDPR and UK GDPR we are the controller.

What we collect

Two kinds of measurement, and they are not treated the same. Nothing here is sold, shared for advertising, or used to build a profile of you.

Google Analytics: only if you accept

Tells a returning visitor from a new one, which the cookieless measurement above cannot do. It stores cookies beginning with _ga on your device and sends Google your approximate location, device and browser, and the pages you read. We have turned off Google Signals and ad personalization, so this data is not used to target advertising.

Until you accept, no request is made to Google at all. The Analytics code is never loaded. Decline, or ignore the banner, and it stays that way.

Things that are not tracking

• Your light or dark theme choice and your answer to the consent banner are kept in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and we cannot read them.
• Search runs entirely in your browser. What you type into the search box is not sent anywhere.
• Cloudflare, which serves this site, processes your IP address to deliver the page and to block attacks. That is unavoidable for any website; we do not keep those logs.

Why we are allowed to

In the EEA and the UK, cookieless measurement that stores nothing on your device runs on our legitimate interest in knowing which articles are read. Anything that stores or reads something on your device runs on your consent, and nothing else.

In India, the DPDP Act has no legitimate-interest basis and analytics is not one of its listed legitimate uses, so consent is the only basis we rely on for Google Analytics, and this page is the notice that goes with it. In US states with privacy laws, we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we honor Global Privacy Control automatically.

How long it is kept

Cloudflare Web Analytics data is aggregated and retained by Cloudflare under their privacy policy. Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set on our property, which we set to the shortest period Google offers. Your consent decision expires after 182 days, after which we ask again.

Where it goes

Cloudflare and Google both process data outside India, including in the United States, under their own transfer safeguards. We do not transfer your data to anyone else, and there are no other third-party scripts, embeds, or ad networks on this site.

Your choices

• Change your mind whenever you want. The Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page reopens the banner. Declining after you accepted deletes the Google Analytics cookies immediately.
• Tell us up front. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, nothing runs unless you say otherwise. We still ask, so you can turn it on if you would rather.
• Block it entirely. Blocking cookies or scripts for this site costs you nothing. Every page works without them.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, withdraw consent, or complain. Withdrawing is one click and needs no email. For anything else, write to us and we will answer.

In India you can escalate to the Data Protection Board if our answer does not satisfy you. In the EEA or UK you can complain to your national data protection authority.

Children

This site is written for adults and we do not knowingly collect data from children. India's DPDP Act forbids tracking and behavioural advertising directed at children. We run neither, for anyone.

Changes

If what we collect changes, this page is rewritten and the consent banner asks everyone again rather than assuming an old answer still applies.
